Brian Davidson posted the October Carnival at his blog, LXXI. He starts with a nice collection of links for people attending SBL, including a notice that the “Evangelical Textual Criticism dinner will take place on Sunday night at the Hard Rock Café in the Beatles’ Library.” I honestly never thought I would read Evangelical, Textual Criticism and the Beatles in the same sentence. This is an excellent carnival, head over there and click away.  

In other carnival / blogging news, Jim West a “Minimalist Edition” carnival at Zwinglius Redivivus. Abram K-J has a nice set of Septuagint related links in his third Septuagint Studies Soiree at Words on the Word. Brian Small contributes his monthly Hebrews carnival at Polumeros kai Polutropos. Peter Kirby posted a top fifty Biblioblogs by traffic, although he did not include any of the Patheos blogs. A bit later Peter posted a Top 225 Bibliblogs sorted by linkage. Church Relevance published the top 250 Ministry Blogs in September with similar data. One benefit of the Church Relevance list is that it includes clickable Twitter handles for the blog.

Mitch Chase over at Soli Deo Gloria will be hosting the November Carnival. November is usually a great month for the BiblioBlogs since everyone is going to the national meetings, offering summaries of their papers or snarking about the papers they are attending. If you reading a paper at one of the national meetings in November and post a summary, send a link to Mitch.

I already am looking for volunteers for the 2014 Carnival Season.  I have December 2013 and January 2014 covered, but the rest of the year is wide open. The Labor Day Weekend signals the end of the summer season for most people, and Academics finally have to go back to work.  Brian LePort labored mightily and posted an excellent Biblical Studies Carnival for August 2013  over at Near Emmaus.  His collection of the best and brightest in the world of Biblioblogs this month is well worth your consideration.  If you are attending SBL this fall, be sure to hear Brian’s paper at the Blogger and Online Publication section at SBL.

There were several other carnivals of note this month. Abram K-J contributed a Septuagint Soirée on his blog, Words on the Word.  Jim West’s Avignonian Papacy Edition of the Carnival. This month’s is chronologically organized and a Septuagint Free Zone. In it we learn that Jim is 53 and that he eats at Taco Bell.  Brian Small posted a round-up of blog posts on the book of Hebrews at his Hebrews blog, Polumeros kai Polutropos.

Brian is a veteran Biblioblogger who will be giving a paper at the Blogger and Online Publication section at SBL this fall. But he could always use a few nominations as he collects the best blog posts on Biblical and Theological studies for the month.  Brian posted a “call for links” earlier in the month, so post your links there.

There was no volunteer for the July 2013 Carnival, so Jim West’s Avignonian Papacy Edition of the Carnival was official, an awkward reuniting the blog carnivals, slightly reminiscent of Pope Eugene IV meeting with dissident Nestorian groups in Mesopotamia in 1444.  Or the last family reunion I attended.  You get the idea.

The June 2013 Biblical Studies Carnival will be hosted by Andrew King over at The Blog of the Twelve. This is a “call for links” to blogs of interest published in June 2013. Email the links to Andrew (aking443 at gmail.com) or leave a comment with a link.  June and July are usually a bit slow for bibliblogs, so help Andrew out by posting something really spectacular in the next few days!

What makes a good post for a Carnival?  Any Blogs that contribute something to the discussion of biblical literature theology, and culture. For example, what posts made challenged you to think more deeply about a topic? What blogs offered insights into Scripture and theology?

Send the links to Andrew and look for his Carnival around the first of July.

As a bonus, Jim West announced he is planning a special “Lady Blogger” carnival hosted at Zwinglius Redivivus.  I am sure Jim would appreciate some additional links to blogs from female scholars posted in June.

Jeff Carter has posted the May Biblical Studies Carnival at his blog ThatJeffCarter Was Here.  Jeff did a great job gathering the links and organizing the blog.  To my recollection, this is the first Carnival with a Spotify soundtrack.  Jeff has quite eclectic musical tastes (from ELP to Fatboy Slim, with a little Tito Puente tossed in for flavor).  I can respect that.
