Today is the day I pick a winner for a copy of The Setting of the Sermon on the Mount by W. D. Davis. The context opened a week ago, and 27 people signed up (there were more comments, but I allowed only one entry per person). I took each of your names, sorted randomly and then pasted them into Excel. Random.org gave me a number between 1-43, and the winner is…..
Gordon Abraham
Congrats to Gordon, please contact me via email (plong42 at gmail .com) with your mailing address and I will ship the book to you ASAP. Better luck next time for the rest of you, maybe I will do another round of giveaways at the end of the semester.
If we were voting Jesus-Seminar style, No-Q would win in a landslide. I appear to have opted for Q last year, but I think Francis Watson has some very good things to say about the whole sayings-source issue in his Gospel Writing.
Although I did not ask for witty responses, here are a few non-award awards (no books, sorry!):
- Honesty Award: Colin, who said “probably not Q (read: completely uninformed speculation)”
- Obvious Star Trek Reference Award: Abram K-J, who said: “Q is a Star Trek character–only.”
- Okay, That Made Me Laugh Award: gingrichdk, who said “No Qlue”
- Complicated Pun of the Year Award: Luke Hinton, “ExQ’sme?”
NB: This book was my own personal copy; it was not provided by the publisher.
